The CD4049UBE based fuzz. I think it's a fuzz, it's not a transparent overdrive and the sound of a broken speaker is not really distortion like if you ask me. Simple build, worked before I boxed it. It didn't after having it boxed, when switching it on it was dead silent. Turned out to be a bad solder joint on the 3PDT switch, the diagonal jumper.

Ran into this [[https://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/2014/11/way-huge-red-llama.html?showComment=1486947372817#c2227281455738859741|comment]] and apparently this effect was originally conceived as a fuzz. Had read about the Craig Anderton book before but now I had something like, why not just buy it. So I did and it's a great book, still pretty topical given that the first edition was from 1979.
